| Critical Needs
(things beginning in red are critical to us)
Since the beginning of June, 2009 we have experienced an amazing rate of growth. While our hardware needs are beginning to be met, at times we have found ourselves in the embarrassing position of not having enough fuel in our vehicle to go do the installations. We know first-hand how tough times are right now. We are in the homes of the most severely affected every day. What we badly need are cash funds to operate on. If you are able, we would appreciate you clicking the blue icon at the top right of the home page and donating what you can. Or you can just click here. We are more than ready to do this work...we simply do not have enough money to help those that need us. With a new facility that requires a small monthly rent and our increased requests, anything you can do to aid us will be appreciated. And as always, your donation is tax deductable.
Thank you for being part of what we do. We could not do it without you.
Specific hardware needs
Our kids have to access some fairly intensive RAM and bandwidth applications and websites. Because the machines we supply must compete with those of other kids, there are limitations to what we can accept. Anything that goes below a Pentium III 900 chip, we simply cannot use
Our specific needs for computers are Pentium III 1 gig chips or above...Pentium 4's are preferred. We are in severe need of LCD flat panel monitors. Functional laserjet printers are always welcome. Stuff that is currently critical - We have drop points for your convenience in North Austin, Lakeway and Pflugerville. See the left side panel for the link that shows you these locations.
*At this time, we have all the CRT monitors (the big bulky ones) that we can afford to store. We are trying to use those first but we have so many that it is going to take us a while.
*External cd/dvd burning roms...many of the computers we get do not come with sufficient bays for internal cd/dvd players/burners so we augment our systems with these usb devices.
*RAM (memory) We specifically need PC133 sticks, preferably of the 512 size. All RAM donations are welcome though. We are looking for 256 sticks or above. The 128's don't do us much good. Laptop RAM is especiallly welcome.
*Functional or quickly repairable laptops. We will be using them for wheelchair-bound kids.
8 gig or better thumb drives. These are critical for our kids who are on a waiting list but need to access the files and applications on Library computers or computers at a friends house. This brings them partially up to speed until we can get to them. We currently have a 3 week backlog of Austin kids that need our help.
If you do not have any of these items to donate, we can order them via your support, then we can buy these items in bulk. Kindly click the blue click&pledge button on the top right of the page. Thank you for being part of what we do. As always, your donations are tax deductable. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- ***The outfHeliOS Project will be needing laptops to outfit kids in wheelchairs or who are not fully mobile. We are especially in need of the external cd/dvd burners and financial funding. They are critical to the job we do and we need them badly. If you do not have any hardware to donate, please consider a small donation via the link on the front page towards these items. Stuff we are always short
*Hard Drives - 40 gig and up if possible *Wifi adapters/cards *usb external dvd/cd burning units *usb mice and keyboards
*usb extension cables *We really need thumb drives...8 gig thumb drives if possible. (We have access to them at bulk rate so if you wish, you can donate via our donate link and we will order them via the web.)
Let us know if you need a receipt for tax purposes and we will supply you with proof of donation asap. Hopefully, the days of not being able to go install a computer because we do not have gas money are over.
