A Child's Exposure to Technology Should Never Be
&nbsp Predicated On The Ability To Afford It

The Austin Prometheus Project

  • prom_logo

Since 2005, The HeliOS Project has provided over 1200 rebuilt or refurbished computers to disadvantaged Austin kids.

While it has been gratifying to do so, we also know that just over 30 percent of those computers remain unconnected to the Internet. $35.00 a month might not sound like much, but to a family who struggles simply to pay rent and put food on the table, this monthly expenditure is out of reach.

While there is little we can do to help those already receiving one of our computers, we can move forward and insure the families that are truly in need are able to connect. Our HeliOS kids will compete for grades and scholarships in the future and giving them a computer without Internet access is like giving them a home without doors.

We hope you will join us in our effort in connecting these kids to their futures. Your donation of 35.00 gives us the ability to provide one months service to one of our kids. We are also contacting Austin businesses to ask for their help. If you are interested in helping Austin Prometheus, you can click here to make your donation. As always, your gift is tax deductable.

Thanks for putting the technology of today into the hands of tomorrow.

  • Ken,
We all wanted to let you know how much we appreciate what you do, not just for us, but for all the kids in Austin who need it. Simon and Sawyer love their computer you set up for us... they're having fun and learning at the same time. I am so grateful that their educational playing field has been leveled and that they are no longer in danger of falling behind due to a lack of technology and resource. You brought something to them that every child should have available to them, but unfortunately aren't always able to get no matter how hard their parents work. People like you are so special, and we're glad to have met you and had our lives touched by your generosity. Your dedication and hard work, coming over and giving your time to set everything up, help us with the system and to teach us new things, it's a rare thing. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
    Janna, Brad, Simon, & Sawyer
